Author Book Talks -- Escape from the Nazis: the Dutch-Paris Resistance Line

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Royal Oak Public Library
Friends Auditorium

Event Details

Between 1942 and 1944 the Dutch-Paris escape line rescued 3,000 people from the Nazis. They hid 1,500 Jews in Belgium and France and took another 1,500 Jews, resisters, men who wanted to volunteer with the Allies, and downed Allied airmen out of occupied territory to Spain and Switzerland.

Megan Koreman, author of The Escape Line, will explain how 330 otherwise ordinary men and women in Holland and France linked up to create an extraordinary network, how they smuggled people across heavily guarded borders, how they forged identity documents and how they struggled on to help others even after the German secret police captured almost everyone involved in their aviator escape line.
